Updating your Information
As you work toward retirement, life rarely remains the same. It continues to change, sometimes in significant ways. You might find it necessary to tell KCERA and your department about some of these changes, such as those listed below.
Beneficiary Change
Your designation of a beneficiary* is important. This is the person you choose to receive retirement benefits in the event of your death. For example, if you die before retiring, your beneficiary would be entitled to a refund of your contribution balance and possibly other retirement benefits.
Therefore, it is very important that KCERA has your most current beneficiary information. If you need to designate a new beneficiary due to marriage, divorce or death, please complete the Beneficiary Designation Form and return it to KCERA immediately.
Name Change
If your legal name changes, please update it with your department’s payroll clerk. Do not contact KCERA to make this change. KCERA will receive the updated information from your employer.
Address Change
If your address changes, please update it with your department’s payroll clerk. Do not contact KCERA to make this change. KCERA will receive the updated information from your employer.
(* Your beneficiary must be a living person with an insurable interest in your life. Members who are married or registered as domestic partners should designate their current spouse or partner.)
